Adult Basic Education/General Educational Development

Available to any adult IVCC district resident

Adult Education Classes:

  • General Educational Development (GED)
  • Adult Basic Education (ABE)
  • English as a Second Language (ESL)
  • Literacy (I-READ) Literacy Volunteers Wanted Click here!
  • Offers on-campus classes in the Adult Learning Center (third floor, Building E).
  • Provides off-campus classes in Marseilles, DePue, Spring Valley, LaSalle, Mendota, Ottawa, Princeton and Streator.
  • Lets students work at their own pace.
  • Allows students to acquire basic reading, writing and math skills necessary to obtain or advance in a job.
  • Offers classes at no cost to the student.
  • Gives students a chance to obtain employment skills.
  • Boosts knowledge of skills students will need to meet entrance requirements for vocational training programs.

What the Program Offers

General Educational Development classes for any adult 16 or older who has not received a high school diploma or GED certificate

ABE

Adult Basic Education classes (16 or older) to help with reading, writing and/or math skills

Students study in the Adult Learning Center (GED/ABE) lab at the IVCC campus.

ESL

English as a Second Language classes designed to help nonnative speakers of the English language

 

 

I-READ Literacy Program  Literacy Volunteers Wanted Click here!

Provides one-on-one or small group tutoring for students 16 or older who are out of school and need to improve language or math skills.
