ADULT EDUCATION PROGRAM PARTNERSHIPS
Illinios Valley Services - IVS is a collaborative effort through IVCC and SRAVTE which serves Single Parents, Displaced Homemakers, and Single Pregnant Women in the areas of career exploration, occupational preparation, parenting information and other educational support services and opportunities.
Illinois Valley Hispanic Partnership Council - This council promotes Hispanic participation in higher education; cultural sensitivity and diversity in the Illinois Valley; and provides resources to individuals, organization and communities enriched by Hispanic stakeholders. The council also promotes cultural events that celebrate diversity and other events that include resource distribution, education, scholarship information, and community activities. www.ivcc.edu/hpc
SOS Family Literacy Program - Streator Open Doors is a collaborative effort on the part of YSB, IVCC's Adult Education program and Streator Public Library. Family literacy activities at St. Paul's Lutheran Church include: ESL classes, early childhood education, childcare, parent/child together activities, library services and computer literacy. This family literacy project is primarily funded by through a Secretary of State (SOS) Family Literacy Grant.
Refugee and Immigrant Citizenship Initiative (RICI) - RICI is the first state-funded program of its kind. Since 1995, thirty-five agencies have provided English as a Second Language, civics, and U.S. history instruction, as well as application services to more than 100,000 immigrants throughout Illinois. RICI is a statewide initiative to target legal permanent residents to become naturalized citizens. YSB partners with the Illinois Coalition for Immigrant and Refugee Rights and IVCC's Adult Education program to provide comprehensive citizenship services, including legal counseling, citizenship classes and help with all aspects of citizenship application. Citizenship classes are currently offered in LaSalle and Streator.
Salvation Army GED Class - IVCC's Adult Education program partners with the Ottawa Salvation Army to offer an ABE/GED class at the Salvation Army site. Instruction is funded through the Illinois Community College Board (ICCB).
