Adult Education Classes:
Include High School Equivalency (HSE)
, Adult Basic Education (ABE
), English Language Acquisition (ELA
), and Literacy (I-READ
- Offer on-campus classes in the IVCC Adult Learning Center (CTC-221) and the IVCC Ottawa Center
- Provide off-campus classes in La Salle, Mendota, and Streator
- Offer classes to adult who reside in the IVCC district
- Boost knowledge of skills students will need to meet entrance requirements for certain employment or for vocational training programs
What the Program Offers:
High School Equivalency classes are for any adult 16 or older who has not received a high school diploma or High School Equivalency certificate. E.g., GED certificate.
Adult Basic Education classes (16 or older) help students brush up on reading, writing and/or math skills.
English Language Acquisition classes are designed to help nonnative speakers of the English language.
I-READ Adult Literacy Program
For Adult Learners: Provides one-to-one or small group tutoring sessions for students 17 or older who are out of school and need to improve reading, English language or math skills.
For Adult Tutors: Provides free training to equip volunteer tutors to work with adult learners in the areas of reading, math and English language skills.
