ag00051motion hand_    NEW NAMES AND ACRONYMS FOR GED AND ESL CLASSES: Former GED classes are High School Equivalency (HSE) classes and former ESL classes are English Language Acquisition (ELA) classes.

Fall semester classes are closed.
All new and returning students are required to attend a registration session before returning to or joining a class. Students interested in spring semester classes (starting January 17, 2017) should call the numbers below to schedule a registration session on or after November 1, 2016.

High School Equivalency (HSE) seekers and Adult Basic Education (ABE) students should call Cindy at 815-224-0358.
Students whose primary language is not English and who are interested in English Language Acquisition (ELA) classes should call Sara (English or Español) at 815-224-0355.

All Adult Education class offerings and services are subject to change or cancellation.

Adult Basic Education – ABE: Classes to improve reading, math and writing skills

English Language Acquisition - ELA: Formerly ESL classes, ELA classes are designed to help non-native speakers of the English language who reside within the district. ELA and Citizenship classes - call Sara at 815-224-0355 for registration and enrollment instructions. Para preguntas en español llame a Sara.

High School Equivalency - HSE:
Formerly GED classes, HSE classes are for any adult 16 or older who hasn’t received a high school diploma or High School Equivalency (HSE) certificate. Adult Basic Education/HSE classes - call Cindy at 815-224-0358 for registration information for the next semester.

hatDiplomaBgWHTHSE RECOGNITION EVENT  - Annually in May:  Have you completed HSE testing and received your High School Equivalency (formerly GED certificate), but haven't received communication from Adult Education - e.g., First Class Tuition-Free Waiver letter, scholarship opportunities, HSE graduation information? Contact Cindy Lock at 815-224-0358 to see if you qualify.  

ipathways Click i-Pathways Program to begin registration in IVCC's i-Pathways HSE Online program. Call Cindy at 815-224-0358 for more information or visit the i-Pathways Website used by IVCC's Adult Education program for HSE online instruction.  

GED Testing: The GED® Test is administered by the Assessment Center at Illinois Valley Community College.
I-READ Adult Literacy Program: One-to-one tutoring or small group tutoring for students 17 or older who are out of school and need to improve language or math skills.  Click here for more info on becoming a volunteer in the I-READ program!
SRAVTE, Illinois Valley Services: Services include programs for single parents, displaced homemakers and single pregnant women. Call Aurora at 815-224-0347 or email aurora_medina@ivcc.edu for more information.
Adult Education Program Partnerships: Adult Education partners with area agencies and programs to bring a variety of services to IVCC district residents and students.
