Step 5: Take placement exams

For full-time students, and some part-time students depending on program of study, placement exams are required in the subjects of reading, writing, and math and are offered at both the Main Campus and Ottawa Center locations.

Call the IVCC Assessment Center at 815-224-0542 to make an appointment.  You must provide a photo ID in order to take any placement exams.

ACT subscores may also be used instead of placement exams.  For more information on using ACT subscores,  please see the IVCC Assessment Center website.

Step 6: Meet with a counselor

High School students who graduate in May and wish to attend IVCC Full-time will meet with a counselor through a required New Student Counseling & Registration Session, which are held in March, April, and May each year.

All other Full-time students are required to make a counseling appointment to select and schedule courses by calling the Main Campus at 815-224-0360.  Limited appointments are also available at the IVCC Ottawa Center; call 815-224-0800 for availability.

Part-time students are not required, but are strongly encouraged to make a counseling appointment
