Step 1: Apply to IVCC
All applicants who wish to enroll at Illinois Valley Community College must submit a completed application.
Submit an on-line
application at www.ivcc.edu/apply or
complete a paper application. Return the application to the Main Campus
Admissions & Records Office or IVCC Ottawa Center (addresses below).

Step 2: Send your official transcripts
Arrange to have official high school and any college transcripts sent to the IVCC Admissions & Records Office; transcripts are required. They play a very important role in the counseling process.
If you have earned a G.E.D., test results must be submitted to the IVCC Admissions & Records Office.
In addition, students in high school should submit official American College Test (ACT) results.
Step 3: Apply for financial aid & scholarships
Fill out the FAFSA online at fafsa.ed.gov
and list IVCC as one of your colleges by using the FAFSA code of 001705.
For assistance with the FAFSA, contact the IVCC Financial Aid Office at 815-224-0438.

and select “Scholarship Listing".
Step 4: Set up your IVCC Student Email* & WebAdvisor Account
Go to www.ivcc.edu/webadvisor and select “Request a WebAdvisor Account". Fill out the appropriate fields and check the box requesting an IVCC Student Email account prior to submitting the
request.
* You are required to check this email account as any official college related communcation will be sent to only this account.
Step 5: Take placement exams
For full-time students, and some part-time students depending on program of study, placement
exams are required in the subjects of reading, writing, and math and are
offered at both the Main Campus and Ottawa Center locations.
Call the IVCC Assessment Center at 815-224-0542 to make an
appointment. You must provide a photo ID
in order to take any placement exams.
ACT subscores may also be used instead of placement exams. For more information on using ACT subscores, please see the IVCC Assessment Center website.
Step 6: Meet with a counselor
High
School students who graduate in May and wish to attend IVCC Full-time will meet with a counselor through a
required New Student Counseling & Registration Session, which are held in March, April, and May each year.
All other Full-time students are required to make a
counseling appointment to select and schedule courses by calling the Main
Campus at 815-224-0360. Limited appointments are also available at
the IVCC Ottawa Center; call 815-224-0800
for availability.
Part-time students are
not required, but are strongly
encouraged to make a counseling appointment.
Step 7: Register for classes
After
your counseling appointment, take your course registration form to the Office of Admissions & Records or
register via WebAdvisor to complete the registration process.
You will receive a registration statement
which will display your account balance and other important information, such
as dates for refunds and withdrawals.
Step 8: Pay tuition and fees
Pay tuition and fees or make arrangements for payment by the dates listed on the fee statement in order to validate your enrollment. The dates are also listed on the cashier website. For information on available payment plans, see the ecashier website, WebAdvisor, or call the IVCC Cashier at 815-224-0213.
If you receive Financial Aid of any sort, you must make contact with the cashier to hold your courses for Financial Aid.
Step 9: Attend Convocation or Spring Preview
Attend New Student Convocation or Spring Preview to become familiar with the college, meet classmates and staff, and prepare for the first day of classes!
